Djordi Komrij

Djordi Komrij (1999) is a queer multidisciplinary artist whose work mainly revolves around encapsulating the traces we as people leave behind. The way that our presence is shaped through the absence of it. How do we perceive the space around us and the people in it? How does the body recollect memories? Dissecting the different elements that are presented in front of him, Djordi looks for the things he admires.

The transformative nature of things serve as a source of inspiration for his approach to making. This is visible in his usage of natural elements such as fire, water, earth and wood which gets complimented by texts and (abstract) depictions of his body.

By creating primitive sculptures and installations, Djordi attempts to reconsider in which ways our presence lingers when we’re no longer here. Carefully playing with his building blocks, creating constellations focusing on the underlaying relations between them. Ultimately pursuing a broader comprehension about the very nature of being.
